Alpha School has appointed Michele Joyce as Senior Vice President of Human Resources
Alpha School, a pioneering education organization transforming how students learn through AI-powered mastery learning, has named Michele Joyce as Senior Vice President of Human Resources. Backed by more than $1 billion from founder Joe Liemandt and rapidly expanding across the United States and beyond, Alpha is redefining education by helping students learn twice as much in just two hours a day while dedicating the remainder of the school day to life skills development, confidence building, and real-world projects. Guided by its mission to help kids fall in love with school, learn faster, and build essential life skills, Alpha continues to challenge traditional models of education through innovation and technology.
In this role, Michele will serve as a strategic partner to Alpha’s founder and executive leadership team, leading the design and execution of the people strategies that will fuel the organization’s next stage of growth. She will oversee scalable talent acquisition, leadership development, organizational design, and retention programs while building the infrastructure needed to recruit, develop, and support thousands of Guides—the teachers, coaches, and mentors who bring Alpha’s groundbreaking educational model to life. Michele will also play a key role in advancing Alpha’s AI-first approach to workforce design, ensuring that people and technology work together to deliver exceptional outcomes for students and employees alike.
Michele brings more than 20 years of human resources leadership experience across technology, healthcare, and private equity-backed organizations. Most recently, she served as Chief People Officer within Vista Equity Partners portfolio companies, partnering with executive teams to drive talent strategy, organizational growth, leadership development, and cultural transformation. Her extensive experience building scalable people programs and aligning human capital strategy with business objectives makes her exceptionally well-positioned to support Alpha’s ambitious growth plans.
