Kirby Medical Center has appointed Dan Klopfenstein as Chief Compliance Officer.
Kirby Medical Center, an independent, not-for-profit hospital located in Monticello, Illinois, serves the healthcare needs of families across Piatt County and surrounding areas. In this role, Klopfenstein will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serve as a member of the senior leadership team. He will oversee a broad range of critical functions, including compliance, risk management, human resources, wellness, and community outreach. He will also lead compliance and risk investigations, guide regulatory adherence, and serve as a strategic partner to the administrative team, medical staff, and governing body to support Kirby Medical Center’s continued growth and community-focused mission.
Dan brings extensive experience in healthcare compliance, government relations, and strategic operations. Most recently, he served as Director of Government Relations & Business Implementation at Carle Health & Health Alliance, where he led legislative and regulatory strategy across a complex, vertically integrated health system serving more than 660,000 patients and members. He has demonstrated success in regulatory implementation, enterprise risk management, compliance audits, and leading multidisciplinary teams through large-scale operational and policy changes.
A Juris Doctor graduate from the University of Illinois College of Law, Dan combines deep legal expertise with strong business acumen and a collaborative leadership style. His experience working with executive leadership, policymakers, and regulatory agencies positions him well to strengthen compliance infrastructure while supporting innovation and operational excellence.
Kirby Medical Center continues to invest in its people, facilities, and services, including a major expansion project to improve access and enhance the patient experience for the communities it serves.
